SQUIRREL TIME

Back

A couple of my cats are good hunters. Usually they are content with a grasshopper, finch or mouse, but four days in a row this week they caught juvenile fox tree squirrels. Each time I was able to free the caught squirrel from cats' mouth. #1 victim had puncture wounds to the neck and had to be taken to Squirrel specialists - no kidding. #2 spent 24 hours in my squirrel hospital (laundry room) but didn't have insurance so was released back into the pine and juniper forest on my property. Sadly, #4 died from internal injuries. #3, by far my fave, spent a few days on a heating pad consuming walnuts, sunflower seeds and orange slices in my laundry room. He recovered nicely before being released. This clip was shot on day 1; too bad I didn't get clips of him in his deluxe kennel or riding around on my shoulder on subsequent days. We f'n bonded and I miss his cute energy. I estimate his age at 4 1/2 or 5 weeks.
