"Fac ut ardeat cor meum" - [Andante molto] [canto solo] Performed by Concerto Italiano Featuring Gemma Bertagnolli, soprano Sara Mingardo, contralto Conducted by Rinaldo Alessandrini *Scarlatti's "Stabat Mater" was composed for the Cavalieri della Virgine dei Dolori in Naples, who, annually, honored the Virgin by dedicating to her, during the Lenten season, a Stabat Mater. 20 Years later the same Order commissioned Pergolesi for a new Stabat Mater to replace Scarlatti's in part because his Stabat Mater was considered old-fashioned.
