Intro to Silent Hill 3. While not as good as Silent Hill 2, it isn't directly related to any other Silent Hill game OTHER than the very first game. 1 and 3 tell the tale of Harry Mason, and then Heather Mason, which also covers the history of the town, and how it recently awakened to the 'hell dimension'. Silent Hill Origins acts like a prequel, though it's not necessary to play, as SH1 covers what it needs to. Silent Hill 2 is a standalone game that follows James Sunderland, and his more personal encounter with the town. Silent Hill 4 was originally Konami's attempt to cash in on the ghost horror games like Fatal Frame. Halfway through development they decided to change the plot a bit and slap the Silent Hill label on it. While a good game, as a result of it being based on hauntings and not demons, it doesn't quite feel like a Silent Hill game. The weakest of the series so far, but still worth a play, but still worth being part of a series compilation if you intend to get them all.
